Do you find your energy level to be low all the time? Do you use too much caffeine in your diet? Here is what I did.

Low energy throughout your day is something that affects a lot of us and is usually caused by improper nutrition. I know very well how hard it is to make sure we are eating 100% right, 100% of the time. We live in a fast paced, fast food society now. We are always on the go. I am here to tell you, there is a way to make sure that your body gets the nutrition it needs, keep your energy levels up and still maintain our busy lifestyles.

My story


About 2 years ago, I found myself faced with a complete lifestyle change. I had gotten divorced. I was now a single father of 3 children. And yes, the children are with me full time. What a change from what I was used to. Here I am with 2 children in school, the activities that go along with school and a 2 year old. I found that there was just not enough time in the day. My mornings turned into getting myself ready, making sure the children were dressed appropriately, had to make sure they they all ate a good breakfast, then I had to make sure my 2 year old didn't mess up her clothes and possibly had to change her clothes, gather everything up for the 2 going to school, take them to school, drop the 2 year old off at daycare and then head in to work.

Sound familiar?

More often than not, my breakfast turned into a large travel mug of coffee that I took to work with me. It was no wonder that after a few hours I would start to feel my body crashing. I found myself going for more coffee or a highly caffeinated pop. A lot of the times, that made me start to feel jittery. I did not like that. Let's not even begin to talk about what "fast food" was doing to me. Even the "healthy" choices were made to taste good not necessarily be healthy. I just couldn't live like that anymore, it had to stop.

What I did


In this time my mother had put herself on Herbalife products for weight loss. I was just amazed at her results in such a short time. The thing that amazed me the most was her energy level while she lost the weight. I t was even higher than it was before she started the Herbalife. Now, I didn't need to lose any weight. What is obesity

Obesity is classified as having an excessive amount of body fat. Obesity is more than just a concern of how you look and feel. High blood pressure and being overweight. I read several articles that were very informative.

WHAT IS HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE(HYPERTENSION)


High blood pressure is a condition where the force of the blood against the artery walls is high enough that may eventually cause serious health problems. This is actually a fairly common problem and can lead to heart attacks, strokes heart disease or even heart failure.


Blood pressure is determined by how much blood your heart pumps and the amount of resistance to blood flow in your arteries. The more blood your heart pumps and the narrower your arteries, the higher the blood pressure.

WHAT IS DIABETES


Diabetes is a disease that affects how your body uses blood glucose(blood sugar). Glucose is very important to your good health because it is a source of energy for the cells in your muscles and tissues. It is your brain's main source of fuel.


HOW DO I KNOW I HAVE DIABETES


Only a licensed physician can diagnose and treat diabetes. There are however several different symptoms associated with diabetes. These symptoms are good warning signs to go get checked for diabetes by a licensed physician.


Symptoms- Increased thirst, Frequent urination, Extreme hunger, Fatigue, Blurred vision, Slow-healing sores, Mild high blood pressure, Frequent infections


This list is by no means complete. Once again, I am not a qualified professional and I cannot diagnose or treat diabetes. However, if you do recognise some of these symptoms, I strongly urge you get yourself checked for diabetes by a licensed physician.


WHY IS WEIGHT SO IMPORTANT


During the digestion process of your food, sugar is released into your bloodstream. Sugar then enters your cells with the help of insulin. Insulin comes from your Pancreas. When you eat, the Pancreas releases insulin into your bloodstream as well. As insulin circulates, it helps your blood sugar enter your cells. So then insulin helps lower the amount of sugar in your bloodstream. As blood sugar drops, then so does the level of insulin. The reason your weight is so important is because the more fatty tissue you have, the more resistant to insulin your cells become. According to the Mayo clinic, studies have shown, losing just 5-10% of your body weight if you are overweight can make a significant difference in your blood sugar control. Not to mention the benefits you gain from a healthier heart, more energy and improved self-esteem.

I read an article from the Mayo Clinic about Crohn's disease.


I have friend named Tony Oliver. He was diagnosed with Crohn's disease so this article caught my attention and really opened my eyes to what he is going through.

WHAT IS CROHN'S DISEASE


Crohn's disease is an inflammatory bowel disease. it causes inflammation of the lining of your digestive tract, which can lead to many symptoms including, abdominal pain, severe diarrhea and even malnutrition. That is by no means the complete list but are the most common. Currently, there is no known cure for Crohn's disease. However, treatments can greatly reduce the symptoms and even bring about long-term remissions. With treatment, many people can lead full, functional lives.


SYMPTOMS


Symptoms of Crohn's disease range from mild to severe and can come on suddenly, without warning. You can have long periods of remission, but when the disease flares up symptoms can include: Diarrhea, Abdominal pain and cramping, Blood in the stool, Ulcers, Reduced appetite and weight loss, Fever, Fatigue, Arthritis, Eye inflammation, Mouth sores, Skin disorders, Infammation of the liver or bile ducts.


COMPLICATIONS


Crohn's disease, if left unchecked with no form of treatment can lead to different complications. If these complications are left unchecked can lead to very serious health issues. Here are some of the complications that can come about due to Crohn's disease.


Bowel obstruction- This is actually more extreme than just normal constipation. This obstruction can actually lead to the need for surgery to remove the affected portion of the bowel.


Ulcers- Inflammation can lead to open sores anywhere in your digetive tract.


Fistulas- Sometimes ulcers can extend completely through the intestinal wall causing connections with different parts of your body. Connections can extend to other parts of your intestine, skin, even another organ. Left untreated can lead to malnutrition all the way to life-threatening problems.


Malnutrition- Diarrhea, abdominal pains and cramping makes it difficult to eat. Also, when you are able to eat, you dont get a good absorbtion of vital nutrients to keep your body healthy.


Colon Cancer- Crohn's disease that affects the colon does increase the risk of colon cancer.


This list is by no means complete, but does show some of the more serious complications.


As I mentioned earlier, my friend Tony has Crohn's disease. I used to work with him. I can remember some of the difficulties he used to have during that time. When he had flare-ups, I can remember all the times he had to call in sick to work. I also remember the times Tony was at work and would have to disappear for long periods of time because of his symptoms. A lot of those times he just ended up leaving work early because he just couldn't function in his job at those times. I can not begin to imagine the suffering Tony was going through during those times. I just knew of the difficulties it created for myself and others in the job. Needless to say, those difficulties were not Tony's fault. Put yourself in Tony's shoes. Would you have been any different. Probably not!


MEDICATIONS


There are actually a good amount of different medications to help keep symptoms under control. Of course, those of you who have been reading my posts know, I am not a huge fan of medications. After reading all the different side affects of some of those medications, I have come to the opinion that I myself would not want to take them.


Remember- I am not a qualified professional. This is just my humble opinion. I am not qualified to diagnose, norr treat Crohn's disease. All I can do is offer an alternative. Luckily, if you agree with me about medications, the article did mention that Herbal and Nutritional supplements may be a viable alternative.

Its allergy season...Are you tired of how the medications make you feel?

IT IS ALLERGY SEASON


Yes that's right folks it is allergy season. How many f you suffer from allergies? I was reading about allergies and was surprised to find out how many people actually do suffer from allergies in one form or another. Statistics show that over 60% of people suffer from allergies. I know for a fact that 50% of my family suffers (3 of 6).


MEDICATIONS


As some of you are aware, I am not a huge fan of medications. Allergy medications are no exception. Both of my parents and my son suffer from allergies. They all tell me the same thing. They dont like the medication because it makes them feel all jittery inside. Another bad thing about those medications is if you need it at night to help you sleep, it tends to keep you up at night, not allowing a true restful sleep. Can you relate to what I am talking about?
